According to reports by the Times, U.K. tabloid The Sun has dropped the page three topless feature to bring an end to 44-year-old tradition after the paper did not publish any picture of a bare-chested model on page three since Friday.

Britain’s best-selling tabloid has been criticised by many for being for being sexist and outdated.

Although, the paper has not confirmed the move but it is claimed that the paper decides to continue the topless section online only for the viewers.

The Sun’s head of public relations Dylan Sharpe has described the revelation as “speculation” and told: “The Sun hasn’t said either way what’s happening to page 3.

“There’s no confirmation from The Sun.”

Mr Sharpe has also tweeted on Monday: “Page 3 will be in the Sun tomorrow in the same place it’s always been – between page 2 and page 4.”

However, shadow cabinet minister Harriet Harman, who is one of the campaigners against the use of topless pictures in the newspaper, Has hailed the fresh move as she tweeted: “Glad that @TheSunNewspaper p3 gone. Women expect to be equal in C21. Not posing half naked.”

Education Secretary Nicky Morgan has said: “This is a long overdue decision and marks a small but significant step towards improving media portrayal of women and girls. I very much hope it remains permanent.”

But Prime Minister David Cameron has refused to tell his stance over paper’s new policy shift as his spokesperson has told that Mr Cameron ‘thinks that what newspapers publish is a matter for newspapers’.
