Cardiff Police has confirmed to have arrested a male suspect today in relation to the latest series of sex attack in the city. According to the police, victims of all the attacks were aged almost 19 or 20 and were attacked in the student-populated area around Cardiff University.
Detective Chief Inspector, Richie Jones, mentioned in a statement that “we are continuing to investigate three sexual assaults in Cardiff which have happened in the last five days,” adding that “I can confirm that one man was arrested earlier today on suspicion of sexual assault and is currently in custody at Cardiff bay police station.” Mr. Jones pointed out that “just after 4.30am today South Wales Police received a report of a sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in Cardiff.” Furthermore, he elucidated that “we are also continuing to investigate two other assaults – one at Cardiff Civic Centre during the early hours of Sunday september 20th and a second in a house on Cathay’s Terrace during the early hours of Tuesday.”
Meanwhile, Chief superintendent, Belinda Davies, has said that “Cardiff is a safe city and I want to keep it that way as our investigation continues we want people to be able to go out, enjoy themselves and feel safe in our capital city.” She stressed that “additional high visibility patrols are continueing in the city center and surrounding areas to offer reassurance that will continue tonight and over the weekend.”
