Pedestrian in London Hit by a Sofa Fallen from the Top of W Hotels

Authorities have  confirmed that a male pedestrian, wo is in his 20’s, faced a pitiful situation after being hit by a sofa that fell from the roof of a luxury hotel in central London. According to the initial reports, the man was walking past the W hotel on Wardour Street, near Leicester Square, at around 9am on Friday, when a metal-framed outdoor sofa fell 130ft to the ground and hit his face.

Police has confirmed that the victim was shifted to Royal London hospital in Whitechapel via air ambulance and he is in a critical but stable condition. Meanwhile, Met police spokesman alleged that “at this early stage it is believed he was injured by a piece of furniture which fell from scaffolding.” Whereas on the other hand, London Ambulance Service spokeswoman stated that “we treated a man at the scene for a major head injury and took him as a priority to a major trauma centre at a hospital in central London.”

The private rented W Residences are managed by property company Knight Frank. According to the spokeswoman for Starwood Hotels, i.e. owner of W Hotels, it has learned about the incident at the Swiss Centre, which houses W London Leicester Square. The spokeswomen stated that “the exact circumstances of this accident are still being investigated by the local authorities, which we support in their investigations,” adding that “our thoughts and prayers go to the gentleman concerned, who is being treated in hospital for his injuries.”
