Outwood Academy, Ripon, School Pupils Fall Sick Suspiciously

Police has confirmed that more than 40 school pupils have fallen ill suspiciously at the same time while at Outwood Academy in Ripon. According to the officers, the students showed signs of “sickness and feeling faint sometime between 11:00 and 11.30.” On the other hand, Yorkshire Ambulance Service has confirmed that the children are being treated at the school on Clotherholme Road. Meanwhile, a hazardous materials team is attending the school site.

According to the parent of one pupils at the school, two children collapsed during a Remembrance Day service to mark Armistice Day. The parent explained anonymously that “I rang the school to check my daughter was OK. I was told a couple of children had collapsed during a remembrance service,” adding that “as it finished another couple went down. That’s when the fire brigade were called.” Whereas on the other hand, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have alleged that crews from Ripon and Boroughbridge are at the scene “alongside hazardous materials specialist officers” Furthermore, the fire services pointed out that “a specialist detection, identification and monitoring (DIM) team from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is also at the incident.”

Moreover, police spokesperson has stressed that “the safety of all the students and staff at the school is paramount” and that “officers are working with the fire service to establish what has caused the incident.” Officials have confirmed that the school was placed under lockdown following the incident but pupils have now been sent home.
