Police are appealing for witnesses following the death of a cyclist in Holloway.

Officers were called at approximately 0800hrs on Wednesday, 19 January to reports of road traffic collision involving a cyclist and car in Carleton Road, at the junction with Pleshey Road N7.

The car – a silver Peugeot 307 – stopped at the scene.

London Ambulance Service also attended the scene and a man, the cyclist, was taken to an east London hospital where he subsequently died.

Next of kin have been informed and the man has been identified as Colin Hawkes, aged 64, from South Woodford, E18.

A post mortem will be scheduled in due course.

The driver of the car, a 34-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed to return to a north London police station on a date in May.
