london teen arrested for alleged hacking cia chiefBritish authorities have reportedly arrested a 16-year-old boy on criminal charges related to the alleged hacking of email accounts used by CIA director John Brennan and other U.S. officials. According to a spokesperson for Britain’s Thames Valley Police, an arrest was carried out by the regional organised crime squad in England’s East Midlands on “suspicion of conspiracy to commit unauthorised access to computer material” and related offences.

However, the police statement issued on Tuesday failed to identify the youth in question as it confirmed the suspect has been released on bail until June 6. Moreover, the police statement refrained from identifying the targets of any of the arrested youth’s alleged hack attacks. However, sources have confirmed that the arrested hacker is believed to be involved in attempted hacking of Brennan’s private email account. Additionally, the suspect is also alleged to be involved in the hacking of other U.S. officials and posting of names and contact information for thousands of FBI and U.S. Homeland Security Department (DHS) employees.

In a reported published by a website, Motherboard, on Friday it was claimed that the investigators have alleged that the arrested youth is known online as “Cracka” who led a group called “Crackas With Attitude.” However, Motherboard revealed to have had spoken to the teenager on Wednesday and the teenager denied being “Cracka.” However, the report stated that the teenager confirmed he was accused by U.K. authorities of hacking Brennan, White House officials, and a purported hack on the Department of Justice.
