family says suspected mp cox murderer ‘not violent and not that political’The authorities have arrested the suspected shooter of Labour MP for Birstall Jo Cox, 52-year-old Tommy Mair, near his home in Birstall, West Yorkshire. According to the brother of the suspect, the attacker was “not a violent man and is not that political” although reports claim that the attacker shouted “Britain first” during the brutal attack.

While the officers searched the attacker’s home not far from the scene of the attack, his 50-year-old brother, Scott Mair, revealed on Thursday that he had a “history of mental illness, but he has had help.” It was added that “we are struggling to believe what has happened. My brother is not a violent man and is not that political.” Scott mentioned that “we don’t even know who he votes for. I am visibly shaken at this news. I am so sorry for the MP and her family.”

Mair’s half-brother, 41-year-old Duane St Louis, mentioned in his remarks that he believed his brother “wouldn’t hurt a fly” and that “he’s never expressed any views about Britain, or politics or racist tendencies. I’m mixed race and I’m his half-brother, we got on well.” However, it has emerged that a Thomas Mair, from Batley, was named in a 2006 edition of the Springbok Cyber Newsletter, which is produced by the hard-right Springbok Club, an organisation which has called for a return to apartheid-style government in South Africa. According to the article, he was “one of the earliest subscribers and supporters of ‘SA Patriot’” and was hoping to trace his whereabouts.
