former bnp member buckby blasted for contesting jo cox’s seatAfter the tragic murder of Batley and Spen MP, Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed at a constituency surgery at a local library, all major political parties have announced not to contest the upcoming by-election in light of the tragedy out of respect for Mrs Cox’s family and colleagues.

However, a former British National Party member, Jack Buckby, recently announced to contest the election for far-right political party Liberty GB. Earlier, the candidate was coined to be a leading figure in the BNP and was described as an “heir” to former party leader Nick Griffin before he left the party. Founded in 2013 by Paul Weston, Liberty GB leader welcomed Buckby as its press officer later. According to the party objectives, it aims to “halt the Islamisation of Britain” and “promote British values and assimiliation rather than multiculturalism”.

Buckby is facing sheer criticism and ridicule by social media users who have blasted him for his “lack of respect.” One user mentioned that “I would expect a vote of less than one per cent. Here’s to you being crushed into the dirt by tolerance, logic and the forces of good.” Another user, Ed Miller, stressed that “will you be going door to door with your nonsense? Good luck with that. By which I actually mean, I hope you get run out of town.”
