The Indian Army has confirmed on Saturday that its three soldiers were killed when a bus in military convey was attacked by militants in Pampore in Pulwana district on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Police has confirmed that a search operation was started right away and the security forces have now cordoned off the adjoining residential area to launch a full-scale search operation to track down the militants.

IG (Operations) CRPF mentioned in his remarks that “terrorists attacked, security forces retaliated. Public was present so we couldn’t fire openly but terrorists were forced to run away.” It was explained that the army bus was part of a convoy coming from Jammu. According to a local police official, two soldiers were also injured in the attack that took place at the place crowded with civilians at Kadlabal in Pampore town of Pulwama district this afternoon. According to the preliminary investigation so far, it is believed that the militants used motorcycles to carry out the deadly attack.

Earlier on Wednesday, the military confirmed that two militants were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounters took place in Anantnag and Baramulla districts. In one incident, the militants opened fire at an army patrol party at Beewra in Srigufwara area of Anantnag district, triggering a gunbattle between the army and the terrorists. A civilian was killed on December 9 in firing at Arwani in south Kashmir as the Army and police launched an operation against militants.
