Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh has invited Korean investors to work with India on nuclear and solar energy programs.

He encouraged Korean investors to work with the flourishing industry of India and help them come up with improved environmental technologies for the two sectors. He expressed his interest in Korean investment while speaking to a gathering of some of the top Korean CEOs during his trip to Korea regarding Seoul.

He said, “We are committed to increasing energy efficiency and the share of renewables, including solar and nuclear power, in our energy mix. There will be large business opportunities and I am aware of Korean capabilities in environmentally friendly technologies.”

The CEO of the Korean Electricity Power Corporation (KEPCO) Kim Joong Kyum was also present at the time of Singh’s address. KEPCO has high interests in nuclear energy as 45% of Koreas energy supply is met by that.

Adding further points to his address, Singh said, “Investment from Korea is a priority for India. We will take pro-active steps to address investor grievances and improve the business climate in the country. Many states of our Union have been actively encouraging foreign investment and will support these efforts. I urge Korean industry to have faith in India.”

“I believe that India is a stable and profitable long-term investment opportunity.”
