The police authority of Punjab has ordered an inquiry into the VIP treatment of the former minister of Punjab Jagir Kaur on Tuesday, who has been convicted and announced by the court for 5 years of imprisonment.
The police authorities of Punjab have innocently ordered for an inquiry into the matter when they were the ones to allow the former minister all the privileges which included an air conditioner, a 32- inch LCD television, and a direct to home dish antenna which was installed in her ward in the Kapurthala Central Jail.
DGP Punjab Shashi Kanth assured the media saying, “I have ordered an inquiry and deputed a senior officer to conduct the probe. He will visit the jail and look into all the reports. Rules will have to be followed.”
He also informed the media that the superintendent of the Kapurthala Central Police will be called in for an explanation and asked for submit his response in writing. Clarifying further on the matter he was quoted to have said “NO in capital letters” to any special treatment entitlement to the convicted former minister. He said that Kaur has been declared guilty and will be treated like any other inmate in the jail.
He also said, “She is just like any other ordinary prisoner. If the jail superintendent goes beyond the jail manual, he will face the music. I am not the kind of person who spares anyone.”
