On Monday, Praful Patel the Nationalist Congress Party leader said that the party has deferred decision on its future with UPA and the final verdict would be taken in another two days. The NCP leader said, "The NCP will not attend any government function till a final decision is reached.”
However, the NCP leader also said that the NCP would remain with UPA-II till 2014 elections. He said, "We are a responsible part of UPA and will remain with it till 2014 elections." "NCP will meet again tomorrow with our leaders from Maharashtra," "Sharad Pawar is not seeking the chair next to the Prime Minister. Current standoff is not a ploy to seek anything," he also added.
Agatha Sangma, who had recently campaigned for her father PA Sangma in the Presidential polls, offered to quit as Minister of State for Rural Development. Agatha met party Chief Sharad Pawar in a meeting of the party leaders and expressed her readiness to quit the Government, NCP sources said.
Agatha might be facing problems with the NCP leadership receiving complaints against her from party units in Chhattisgarh and Odisha that she campaigned for her father, as people talked in the meeting. While NCP backed UPA candidate Pranab Mukhrjee, Sangma was the BJP-backed opposition nominee for the top post. Reports had it that the Agatha’s matter was expected to come up before the NCP meeting.
