The former Uttar Pradesh minister Raja Bhaiya is been named in an FIR of the suspicious murder of DySP Zia-ul-Haq in Kunda. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting a detailed investigation and has filed charges against Bhaiya and three others for conspiring murder of a UP policeman. However, Bhaiya has not been arrested or investigated yet.

Reportedly, a ten-member team of CBI officers will visit Kunda and reconstruct the crime scene. Zia-ul-Haq, posted as Circle Officer in Kunda town, was murdered in Pratapgarh on Saturday. Zia’s wife Parveen Azad has accused Bhaiya for killing Zia. Bhaiya resigned over the allegations and denied all charges.

The controversial strongman Bhaiya has several cases pending against him. He is also known for sharing a close bond with UP CM Akhilesh Yadav. The governing Samajwadi Party is accused of protecting the guilty and the opposition BSP even demanded imposition of President’s Rule in the state in view of the deteriorating law and order situation.

“The case is with the CBI now and I am sure the guilty would be brought to justice,” Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs minister Mohd Azam Khan said.

CM Yadav claims the case has been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and one should wait for the law to take its course. He also visited the victim’s family in Bilapur village of Pratapgarh and paid his condolences. The chief minister said the incident was tragic and government would take all the possible measures to catch the main culprits.

“There is no question that law and order was a priority for the state government and everything would be done to ensure that the law of the land prevailed,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

“Action would be taken against those policemen who fled away from the scene and also those who showed weakness. Action would be taken against those found guilty.”

“The demand for a CBI inquiry was accepted without any delay. We have also given a compensation of Rs 20 lakhs each to the families of the two victims. We have assured the families that the government is with them. The government will fully cooperate with the investigation.”
