“Jo log Narendra Modi ko rokna chahte hain, woh pakistan dekh rahein hai. Aane wale dinon mein in logon ke liye jagah hindustan mein nahi, jharkhand mein nahi, balki pakistan mein hoga (Those opposing Narendra Modi are looking at Pakistan, and such people will have place in Pakistan and not in India,” is what Giriraj Singh was heard announcing this Saturday at a poll meeting at Mohanpur Haat Maidan near the temple town Deogarh.

Further spitting more venom against his opponents, he attacked the Congress-led UPA government, and said, “The central government gives subsidy to those who export beef and not to those rearing cows.” Giriraj Singh made these hateful remarks in the presence of the former BJP President Nitin Gadkari, who himself stirred a row by telling reporters in Patna that casteism was embedded in Bihar’s DNA. Later, he said he meant Bihar’s politics, not Bihar itself.

BJP’s Jharkhand state president and Giridih candidate Ravindra Rai said he disagreed with Singh’s comments. “I do not know the context in which Giriraj Singh made the comments so I cannot be sure of what he meant. But it is true that this is a democracy and there will always be critics. There was no reason to talk of Pakistan in his speech while appealing to voters to support Modi,”
