This Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, MP Giriraj Singh, had to face serious trouble when four robbers were caught by the Patna police who claimed that the 1.14 crore cash, 600 US dollars, expensive jewelry and watches that were with them were all stolen from the minister’s house in Patna.

The Patna Police started their investigation about the money by questioning the BJP leader belonging to Bihar and questioned him about the all the valuable recovered from his house. Giriraj said that the Rs. 1 crore of cash belonged to his cousin and said he was clean. “The large amount of cash belongs to my cousin. I have informed police in my statement,” Singh told media persons, “What I had to say, I told them. I have told them that it was my cousin’s and the latter has given his views in front of the officials.” The minister from Nawada and had claimed while filing nomination papers in May that he owned only Rs2 lakh worth of cash but the amount recovered from his home seem to point at something else.

Congress, the JDU and the RJD have demanded strict action against Giriraj Singh, seeking a thorough investigation into the matter. The three parties have also demanded that Singh is taken into Police custody and his Parliament membership is terminated, claiming that the cash recovered was ‘black money’. The Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, expressing surprise over the amount of cash and US dollars recovered, said, “The volume is big. It raises question as from where did it come?”  according to the Indian Republic.
