School Bus Collision With Train Killed Several

This Thursday morning, a school bus collided with a train in the Medak district of Telangana which which has led to the death of more than 12 people out of which 11 are children belonging to the Kakatiya School. More than 16 have been grievously injured.

The accident took place at an unmanned level crossing while the bus was crossing the tracks at Masaipet village in Medak. The train arrived at the same time and carried the bus with it for about 200 meters along the tracks. A senior police officer informed that, “11 students and the bus driver were killed”, whereas railway official said that he feared as many as 25 children were dead after the collision. As many as 40 children are reported to be on the bus at the time of collision. “12 feared dead including 11 children, while 16 grievously injured,” said DIG N Suryanarayana. School bags and water bottles were scattered at the site of the accident as rescue workers tried to pull out the injured out of the bus.

The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has ordered an inquiry of the incident and rushed his ministers to the site who are looking over the rescue operations that are conducted. The Telangana Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy has expressed his condolences and said a thorough inquiry will be conducted. He said, “It is a sad incident. A thorough inquiry will be conducted and action will be taken against those responsible.”
