This Sunday saw an addition of 21 ministers in the Modi cabinet which is the first expansion of the cabinet since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge of the government. The portfolio of ministers was also announced on Sunday night. The new minister included some famous names like the former Goa CM Manohar Parrikar and former NDA minister Suresh Prabhuwho are known for their administrative skills.

When the Modi cabinet took oath with a small number of 44 members, the media was told that the Modi government is concentrating on ‘minimum government and maximum governance.’ This was clearly a false start as we see the number of members increase and apart from that it was impossible for one person to handle two to three ministries together especially if the ministries were not even linked. The work load was too much for one person.

The 21 ministers included J P Nadda, Manohar Parikar, Suresh Prabhu, Birender Singh, Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Mahesh Sharma, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Ram Kripal Yadav, Haribhai Chaudhary,  Sanwar Lal Jat, Mohanbhai Kundariya, Giriraj Singh, Hansraj Ahir, Ram Shankar Katheria, Y S Chowdary, Jayant Sinha, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Babul Supriyo, Sadhavi Niranjan Jyoti and Vijay Sampla. Out of all these members only Babul Supriyo is the fresh face that we see who is new  into politics.
