The Parliament this Thursday is all set to resume to the crucial debate about black money. The debate was triggered when the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced severe criticism for not fulfilling his promise of quickly bringing back black money that is stacked in foreign accounts abroad. The government finally decided to discuss the issue in both houses.

It is expected that the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will speak in the Lok Sabha this Thursday, commenting on the issue. The Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while speaking in the Parliament this Wednesday, said that the NDA government will pro-actively chase the offenders and not stop till the last account is identified. Zeen News further informed that the Finance Minister also disclosed that 250 account holders out of a list of 627 names provided by HSBC, Geneva, have admitted to having accounts. He disclosed this in the Rajya Sabha but almost all members of the opposition walked out saying they were disappointed by his answer.

Criticising Finance Minister’s statement on black money in the Rajya Sabha, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja said that the government lacks political will on the issue reported the Zee News portal.”We are not satisfied with the reply of the Finance Minister on the issue of black money. They had said that the people will be credited with certain amount within 100 days, but the government lacks political will regarding black money issue,” he told the media outside the Parliament in New Delhi.
