This Monday, the officials in Srinagar deployed about 4000 security personnel to ensure security of the venue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public rally, the IANS report stated. “We are taking no chances with security on the Prime Minister’s visit to Srinagar today especially in the wake of last Friday’s terror attacks in the Valley,” India Today quoted a top security official.

It was also confirmed that the 4000 security personnel were brought from central and state security to be deployed in and around the Shehr-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium where the Prime Minister of India is expected to address the BJP election rally in the afternoon. “This is in addition to security force deployment at other places in Srinagar city”, the officer said. Before making his way to the election rally, Modi is expected to visit the Badami Bagh cantonment headquarters of the army’s 15 corps, the BJP sources informed the news portal.

“We have been able to reach out to more than 15 lakh people on the phone, through social networking sites and personal campaigning,” Hindustan Times quoted Megha Somaiya, who has been running BJP’s Srinagar campaign to invite people for a month now. “To describe the PM’s visit just as a milestone will be an understatement. It is a turning point for Kashmir,” she said.
