netflixNetflix has launched its movie streaming service in Brazil today with plans of expanding to 43 countries in Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean over the next couple of weeks. This is the second time Netflix has extended its services outside of North America, having extended these services to Canada in September. This expansion came to the surface after a thorough research in to the mindset of the Latin American customers regarding TV shows as well as movies.

All Netflix subscribers in Latin America will be able to access this service in Spanish, Portuguese as well as English, depending up on their preference. In order to subscribe, the customers will have to pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to the company’s streaming-video library. This content can be accessed not only through computers but also through WII, PS3 and smart TVs.

Rochelle King, Netflix VP of User Experience and Design said “We’ve been testing and figuring out the right internet architecture to make sure the quality and speed of the Netflix streaming experience is the best it can be”.

To date, this investment of Netflix is considered as the company’s largest expansion to date. Regarding the demand for such streaming service in Latin America and the revenue that this initiative could generate is presently unknown, however once this service creates its demand in the market there is absolutely no looking back for NetFlix.
