Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…k21-anchor-full-slap-21-102-640x405A case has been registered against a K-21 TV channel’s female reporter, Saima Kanwal, after she was slapped by a Frontier Constabulary (FC) soldier at Nadra office in Karachi. Earlier, a case was also registered in Gulbahar police station against the FC security guard, Hassan Abbas.

The FIR registered on the complaint of Saima Kanwal lists charges including torture and aerial firing against the against the FC guard. Whereas on the other hand, report filed by FC states that the female anchor dragged the soldier from his uniform forcing him to react and includes charges related to rioting, dacoity, snatching of arms and hindrance in the functioning of the government. Additionally, the FIR also names the private news television channel’s cameraman.

The entire incident was captured on the TV channels camera and went viral on social media, showing the soldier first trying to stop the cameraman from shooting, but when Kanwal dragged him by the uniform to show him on the camera, he slapped her. Reports claim the soldier also resorted to aerial firing and tortured the TV channel cameraman as well as driver. Later the channel’s camera shows empty shells in the video following the guard’s firing.

Speaking to another news channel, Saima Kanwal explained that her team went to the Nadra office in Nazimabad area after receiving repeated complaints from citizens. She explained that “we have done nothing but exposed those who are misbehaving with common citizens,” adding that a minor girl was also injured in the firing.
