Advocate General Punjab Khawaja Haris has tendered resignation from his office for the third time reportedly due to differences with the Punjab government over the issue of law officials’ appointment, the sources said on Wednesday. Haris was assigned the AGP post on March 02, 2011 during the current PML-N government.

Sources said Haris had sent his resignation to Chief Minister’s House about three days ago and his resignation had been forwarded to Governor House for approval. Haris has resigned because he has severe apprehensions over theappointment of some law officers in his office which has not redressed his difficulties. Haris has also vacated the AGP’s situated in Punjab Judicial Academy building and relinquished all the perks and privileges attached to his office,” they said adding that Haris was also unhappy over the advisors of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

When contacted, Haris refused to explain the reasons behind his resignation. “I have resigned due to some personal reasons. I cannot continue in the office any more.” Haris said rejecting the reports about the differences over theappointments of law officers.

Haris for the first time had resigned from his office on February 25, 2009 in protest against imposition of governor rule in the province by federal government in wake of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s disqualification by the then Supreme Court comprising PCO judges.
