The interior minister of Pakistan, Rehman Malik has been instructed by the PM to rush to Gilgit-Baldistan at the earliest to control of the rising tension and maintain law and order in the region.

PM called for any assistance the central government can provide to take control of the disturbing condition in Gilgit Baldistan after the shooting of 18 Shiites yesterday. Law and order maintenance has become a major issue in the region for the administration.

Gillani called the center for assistance in a cabinet meeting headed by him in the PM Secretariat on Wednesday.

The cabinet condemned the brutal act of the killing of 18 Shiites in Kohistan region by terrorists. They also offered Surah-e-Fateh for forgiveness and mercy of the souls of the murdered and offered condolences to the families of the victims. Funeral for the 11 of the 18 identified dead bodies took place at 12 noon on Wednesday and the curfew was brought in effect from 1pm. Citizen are requested to stay inside their houses. Government offices, educational institutes, and all business centers have been closed for three days.

PM has asked for special assistance to take situation under control in Kohistan where people have come out on the roads protesting over the brutal act and demanding justice for the lives of the dead. PM has also instructed Rehman Malik to carry out investigations at the earliest and submit a report on the advent of events within the next two days.
