Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Adbul Basit informed the media that the parliament is going to sit down to decide on the matter of NATO supplies on Monday along with other concerned government officials.

He said so while answering a bunch of questioned fired at him on Friday regarding the update on the decision for NATO supplies. He said, “I think that this particular subject will be considered by the parliament starting from the 19th of this month”.

He further added that the decision and the process of coming down to the conclusion is critical to the entire foreign relations of the country as the US-Pakistan relations depend on this one decision.

The day before yesterday, President Asif Ali Zardari had held a meeting of all senior officials at his place and informed them that he wishes the NATO supplies be resumed but at a higher cost so that the country gets better foreign exchange as eventually one way or the other Pakistan will have to resume their supplies. But concluding the meeting he also said that the matter must be taken to the parliament and the parliament should give the final decision on the matter.

Keeping the series of events in view, Basit said that the earliest this discussion can commence in the parliament on Monday, 19th March 2012.
