The lawyer of Prime Minister Aitzaz Ahsen declared it on Tuesday that PM Yousaf Raza Gillani cannot write a letter to Swiss authorities demanding details of accounts and asset holdings of President Asif Ali Zardari till he is working in the capacity of the President of Pakistan.

Aitzaz expressed his opinion over the contempt of the court case on the prime minister in a program on a private television. He spoke to the media that the official written response of the PM has been submitted to the Supreme Court which clearly mentions that the President of Pakistan has immunity against any legal action and therefore it is not possible for the PM to write a letter to the Swiss authorities demanding records of Zardari’s wealth or accounts.

He further told the television that such a request can only be taken forward once Asif Ali Zardari is no longer the president of Pakistan. Other than that, there is no way out. Explaining further, he said that the PM clearly does not want any controversy within institutions and said so in the response submitted by PM requested the Supreme Court to send the matter to the parliament as it did so in the case of the 18th amendment.
