The angry and agitated chairman of the Cable Operators Assocation (COA) Khalid Arain has announced that if the government fails to give them satisfactory protection, the association will shut down its cable operations throughout the country within the next 24 hours, putting the final of the Cricket Asia Cup at risk.

The discussion session of the senior members of COA was conducted today where they finalized that if the government does not take appropriate action against the evil doers of yesterday’s event and give the cable operators security and protection, they will cut off the operations of cable network all over Pakistan.

One of the private news channels of Pakistan, Geo Television, was once again attacked yesterday by some political members of a certain political party claiming that the channel does not give them enough coverage and threatened the seniors at the production place to do so or face the consequences. Upon refusal on being bullied by the politicians, the individuals damaged the fibre optics wires of the channel badly which are worth millions of rupees. Following the event, the broadcasting of the channel was affected in several places, giving the company additional loss of million rupees.

Mr. Arain spoke to the media and clearly said, “We give the government 24 hours to address our grievances or an emergency meeting of the cable operators would decide a complete shutdown of cable transmission across the country.”
