The city of Karachi shuts down once again as one of the members of Awami National Party (ANP) got shot on Thursday morning. Adding to the worsening conditions of the city, the death of the ANP leader Zainullah Khan once again embarked the city to numerous fires, gun shots, and harassment as schools, business centers, and officers remain close.

Zainullah Khan along with his ally Sajid Hassan Zai were coming to Patel Para after attending a meeting in New Karachi when their car was stopped by unknown gunmen who opened fire resulting in the murder of the ANP leader. The news of target killing spread like fire putting a halt to daily activities of the city once again, only after a break of one day.

Regions under severe protests against the killing of the political party leader include Patel Para, Essa Nagri, Rabia City, Teen Hatti, Guru Mender Chowrangi, Lasbela, Pehalwan Goth, Sohrab Goth, and Banaras. The violence streak engulfing the city since morning has resulted in killing of three individuals – a shopkeeper in Mina Bazar, a passer-by in Lasbela, and another individual in Golimar.

No police authorities have been reported to been seen anywhere in the city trying to gain control of the further worsening condition, leaving the residents of Karachi to arrange for their own security and remain in their houses until conditions settle.
