The Supreme Court of Pakistan resumed the hearing of the contempt of court case against the Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani on Friday and strictly told the lawyer of the PM, Aitzaz Ahsen, to complete his arguments by 18th April and submit before the court so that the court can give the final verdict of the case which is lingering on for a while now.

The panel of justices led by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk made the announcement before closing the hearing of the case on Friday. He also said that the arguments of the other side of the case to be put forward by the Attorney General will be heard once Ahsen has completed his arguments regarding the case. Giving the decision, the court adjourned the meeting for the case until Saturday.

The contempt of the court case against the PM has been initiated by the apex court which took the case further when the PM refused to write an official letter to the Swiss authorities concerning graft cases of the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. PM claims that he did not write the letter despite the instructions of the SC because according to various ministries of the government and his colleagues, President has international immunity and is free from all charges and investigation procedures until he is in the capacity of the President of the country.
