A two member bench of the Supreme Court comprising of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif has issued its short order in which it directed the Attorney General to take strict action against Malik Raiz, his son-in-law Salman Ahmed and Arsalan Iftikhar because the court believed that these three people must have a transparent trial.
The two member bench has also rejected the appeal of Malik Riaz’s counsel Zahid Bukhari to send the case to an investigation agency.
In the order, it was said by the court that the documents presented to the court did not have any proof of the monetary transfers as Malik Riz claimed Rs 327 million was given to Arslan Iftikhar in cash. The documents only provided the details of Arslan’s visit.
In accordance to the short order, Malik Riaz acknowledged to give the money but did not expressed any regret over his intentions.
Justice Jawad S Khawaja during the hearing, “Even today we are working to uphold the constitution whereas some elements are trying to sabotage it.” He added, “The court stands against such unconstitutional acts.”
The order further said that media should not be used by such people who have not any respect for the law and constitution.
