This Thursday a terrible accident in the famous city of Dera Ghazi Khan district of the Pakistan’s Punjab province shook people as two buses lost control due to over-speeding and smashed persons standing at Notak bus stand waiting for their bus rides. This killed at least 12 on the spot and further injured 15, who were rushed to the hospital.

Several persons got serious injuries in the incident and being shifted to nearby hospital for initial treatment. The sorrowful accident sparked protests by the locals as outrageous crowd started torching public assets including the buses at the location. Heavy contingents of law enforcement agency have reached the location and trying to control the deteriorated law and order situation. Emergency has been declared in a local hospital DHQ Hospital while the exact figure of injured persons is not yet finalized. The Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and ordered the Deputy Police Office (DPO) to commence immediate inquiry in the incident.

The bus driver was arrested by the police and he informed that the brakes of his vehicle had failed and thus he was unable to stop the bus from crashing into the bus stand with filled with people waiting for their respective buses. Eyewitnesses present at the site of the incident further informed that the police and the other law enforcement agencies took more than an hour to reach the site of the incident.
