The popular Pakistani politician Imran Khan this Tuesday has demanded the audit of the whole election held last year on the 11th of May 2013, giving a new challenge to the one year old Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his government over alleged massive poll rigging.

“It is no longer a question of constituencies for vote verification and we now demand audit of the entire election,” Khan said while talking to media representatives at a press conference. Imran Khan, who plans to hold a long march on the 14th of August, also called the “million people march”, to Islamabad with his political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members and supporters, said a vote audit was being held in Afghanistan over the allegations of electoral fraud and similar exercise must be undertaken in Pakistan. While referring to his long march, the leader said, “If anyone tries to stop the rally, they will be responsible for the consequences.”

The PTI leader further informed that his party had demanded the verification of votes in only four constituencies of Lahore but the government had ducked making it obvious that they had rigged the elections and so “we demand audit of whole election.” He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N government was product of a “fraudulent election” and that it had no right to stay in power. While replying to a question, Khan said that a mid-term election was the only democratic way to sustain the democratic system in the country.
