A tragic accident took place in Kashmir which is under Pakistan administration. A passenger bus fell into a ravine killing 16 people while injuring 38 others. The bus belonged to a private transporter and was on it routine route from the town of Mirpur to Samahni. The ravine is informed to be at least 200 meter deep.

As the accident took place, the local people of the nearby Pona village ran to the assistance of the victims while the rescue teams also reached the site of the accident. The injured were quickly taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mirpur, where several of them were declared to be in a critical condition. This can increase the death toll of the accident. The rescue officials informed that the incident took place at Pona in Bhimber Tehsil in AJK, when the bus driver lost control of the bus.

The vehicle was going from Mirpur to Samahni in Bhimer district when its driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn, according to Radio Pakistan.  The dead bodies have been shifted to a government hospital in Mirpur. Pakistan has to face a lot of fatal accidents because the roads are often occupied by untrained drivers, motorcyclists and bad road conditions. This incident follows another accident that took place in Pakistan’s province Balochistan, in which at least ten people lost their lives.
