This Monday has brought the auspicious day of Eid-ul-Fitr in some parts of Pakistan which celebrate their Eid with Saudia Arabia. This Eid will again be divided between two days, with few parts of Pakistan celebrating their Eid today whereas the rest of Pakistan will celebrate the Eid after the sighting of the moon of Shawal.

Eid-ul- Fitr is being celebrated in a few parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA after a late night announcement by unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee that the Shawal moon has been sighted according to local channels. Eid was announced in parts of Bannu, Mardan, Hangu, Bajaur Agency, Kohat, Charsadda, Swabi, and also in some areas of Peshawar with the Eid prayers said this morning. Yesterday Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, the Imam of the unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee president in a meeting at the Peshawar’s Masjid Qasim Ali Khan informed the media persons that the Shawwal crescent has been sighted in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa therefore the lunar month of Ramadan has ended.

Popolzai was reported to have said that ‘enough credible moonsighting testimonies’ had poured in from parts of KPK in this regard ‘thus Eid-ul-Fitr falls on Monday’. The Bohar community are also celebrating their Eid this Monday. Whereas the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will conduct a meeting in Karachi today and decide whether the Shawal crescent has been sighted or not. Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the chairman of the committee will inform the media persons over the sighting at the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Camp Office Karachi.
