This Friday the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss matters relating to the armed forces as well as the country’s internal security situation. According to sources of the Dawn, the army chief also took the prime minister into confidence over his recent visit to Beijing where he held meetings with the top Chinese political and military leadership.

The news portal further informed that the head of state was also informed about the armed forces’ decision to organize a joint services parade on Pakistan Day. The Pakistan Day is celebrated on the 23rd of March where the joint military parade of Pakistan’s armed forces will take place and will be organized by the joint staff headquarters in Rawalpindi which oversees the country’s three armed forces.

Dawn News informed that the COAS also apprised the premier about successes in the ongoing operation Zarb-i-Azb in North Waziristan and surrounding areas. The Chief of Army Staff also informed the Prime Minister that thousands of terrorists have been killed so far in the operation Zarb-e-Azb.The Prime Minister is said to have appreciated the resolve of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism and further added that the armed forces have the full support of the government. According to Express Tribune, the Prime Minister vowed to fight till the last militant is killed.
