pm nawaz claims kashmir at a turning point after wani’s martyrdomIn his iconic address at the joint session of the parliament on Wednesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif claimed that Burhan Wani’s martyrdom has brought Kashmir to a turning point because now the Kashmiri youth have taken it upon themselves to carry on the movement of freedom against Indian aggression and atrocities. Mr Sharif stressed that “world powers need to ensure that UN resolutions on Kashmir should be implemented in letter and spirit.”

Addressing the issue of the Uri attack in India, PM clarified that the Indian government blamed Pakistan for the attack within a few hours without any investigation so this shows Indian motives unmistakably. He stated that “Pakistan have done everything to make India come to the dialogue table, but India did not let it happen,” adding that, “our efforts were thwarted over and over again.” National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq opened the session by welcoming Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, to the assembly even though he was in the speaker gallery. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the first to address the lawmakers present in the assembly on the Kashmir issue.

The joint session was called to convey the government’s efforts to take political leadership into confidence over the matters of national security amid Indian aggression on the Line of Control (LoC) and violence in Indian-held Kashmir. Whereas on the other hand, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycotted the session of the Parliament claiming that their participation would provide legitimacy to PM Sharif.
