Muzammil Bacchus of Guyana won the inaugural “Late Zaid Ali Award” for the Most Improved Qaseeda Singer as Guyana hosted the 10th  International Qaseeda Competition at the picturesque Anna Catherina Islamic Complex recently. The competition was hosted by the Muslim Youth League of Guyana, Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman and The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex in association with The Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T).
 
The Late Zaid Ali was a Trinidadian who loved Qaseeda Singing and was part of the Trinidad & Tobago’s delegation to many of the Qaseeda Competitions in the past. The family of the Late Zaid Ali had decided to make this yearly Award in his memory to the junior contestant from the host country who has shown the most potential in the singing of Qaseedas. The award covers a Trophy, a monetary Award and an amount of money set aside to train this winner in the Urdu Language. This task will be undertaken by the host organization each year and each year, to provide this training.
