Museum in New York to celebrate Diwali

USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Award-winning Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) in Garden City (New York) is celebrating Diwali on October 23.

This five-hour celebrations will include the “sights, sounds and tastes” of Diwali; including designing rangolis, sampling Diwali sweets, Indian classical and folk dance performances and workshops, display and try-on of Indian costume collection, creating torans, making bracelet for sibling, etc. Each participating family will receive a diya as a gift to take home.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, applauded LICM for celebrating Diwali, most popular of Hindu festivals, calling it a step in the positive direction.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged all children’s museums of the world to organize Diwali celebrations, thus sharing the rich Hindu heritage with the rest of the world.

According to Rajan Zed, Diwali aims at dispelling the darkness and lighting up the lives and symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

Recipient of the National Medal for Museum and Library Service; the 40,000-square-foot LICM claims to be “a learning laboratory where hands-on exhibits invite visitors to experiment, examine, and play” and it welcomes over 265,000 children and adults annually. Suzanne LeBlanc is its President, while Ronald Storch is Trustees Chair.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. There are about three million Hindus in USA.
