Beyer and Jikai’ Phil Bryan.Various religious leaders and an Atheist thinker participated in the “Perspectives on God” panel discussion on September eight in Reno (Nevada, USA), organized by Washoe County Community Education (WCCE).

Attributes of “God” were explained from Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish and Atheist perspective, which was followed by related questions from the attendees to the panelists in this panel held at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC).

Coordinated by Rajan Zed, Director Interfaith Relations of Nevada Clergy Association, this panel included Father Stephen Karcher, St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church Priest; Dr. Sherif A. Elfass, Northern Nevada Muslim Community President; Jikai’ Phil Bryan, Reno Buddhist Center Priest; ElizaBeth W. Beyer, Temple Beth Or Rabbi; Jon Eric Johnson, Atheist thinker representing Reno Freethinkers; and Zed himself, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism.

Centering around “how the different traditions define and view God”, discussion revolved around images of God, experiencing God, God and values, God in scriptures, myth, love of God, way to God, gods, creator and destroyer, human search for the eternal truth, etc., and even rejecting and criticizing God.

WCCE is a consortium of TMCC and Washoe County School District (WCSD). Dr. Maria Sheehan is TMCC President and Pedro Martinez is WCSD Superintendent.
