Victorious Pakistani Team

Pakistan has been crowned Hong Kong Sixes champions after they defeated England by 35 runs on Sunday.

Abdul Razzaq (63 not out) and Sohail Tanvir (58) were the top scorers for Pakistan, as they set a target of 155 in their six overs at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

England, however, lost wickets regularly before being bowled out with two balls left in the final eight-ball over.

The victory saw Pakistan draw level with England as the team with the most number of wins at the big-hitting event – each on five.

“We are delighted to have matched England with five wins a piece. But we want to make it six next year,” a leading daily quoted Razzaq, as saying.

The Hong Kong Sixes is an annual 10-team international (12 since 2011) cricket tournament fully sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The tournament is made for television, with rules and a venue that encourage aggressive batting and high scoring. Because every player (except the wicket-keeper) is required to bowl one over, the format suits all-rounders.
