Toronto ArgonautsThe Toronto Argonauts Football Club continues to add to its quarterback stable by signing CFL veteran QB Jarious Jackson. Jackson has signed with the club through the 2013 season.

Commented Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker, “Jarious Jackson gives us an experienced and proven backup quarterback.  He is a great team leader and has taken meaningful snaps in big games.  He augments the other quarterbacks we have under contract.  Jarious will be a good sounding board for Ricky Ray and will help mentor the other quarterbacks on our roster.”

Jackson has spent the past seven seasons with the B.C. Lions. He’s been a member of two Grey Cup championship teams with the Leos, in 2006 and 2011, and he’s played with some of the CFL’s top-tier quarterbacks throughout the years. Jackson dressed in 108 regular season games, with 22 starts, for B.C. He has passed for more than 7,000 yards and rushed for more than 1,000 yards while playing in 8 playoff games over seven seasons.

Jarious Jackson remarked, “I’d like to thank Wally Buono and the BC Lions for my tenure there.  I will miss the fans and the guys in the locker room but I look forward to establishing those same types of relationships in Toronto.  I’m very excited to be an Argonaut. It feels like it’s been a long time coming since the Argos held my original CFL rights and I’ve talked to the Argos many times over the years.  I believe that I was always meant to be an Argo and I’m finally here.  I’m happy to work with Coach Milanovich and his staff and am eager to get started and do what I can to help the team win the 100th Grey Cup.”

Jackson played college football for the University of Notre Dame where he broke all the records originally set by another Argonauts legend, Joe Theismann. He was later drafted by the NFL’s Denver Broncos and played for both Denver and the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europa.
