The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that just before free agency opened last night, an important piece of its receiving corps., P.K. Sam, re-signed with the club through the 2011 season.

Sam is a two-year CFL veteran who has logged 15 regular season games, caught 63 passes for 884 yards and five touchdowns. The 26-year old product of Florida State first joined the Argonauts in September 2006 and has already put up three 100+ yard games. Sam was a 2004 draft pick of the New England Patriots.

2009: Re-signed, while still in his option year, with Toronto on July 31…Signed by the Buffalo Bills (NFL) on January 27, 2009 and released on July 29…Returned to Toronto on July 31… Dressed in and started 9 games at WR/SB for the Argonauts… Missed weeks 11 & 12 with a shoulder injury…Week 7, Added to Argos’ 46-man active roster but did not dress in loss vs. BC… Week 8, Made his 2009 CFL debut (28/08/09) and had a great first outing, with 5 catches for 75 yards, LG 33, and 2 touchdowns in loss vs. Calgary… Week 9, Started at SB and made 2 catches for 45 yards, LG 35, in loss at Hamilton…Week 10, Started at SB and made 1 catch for 5 yards before leaving the game in the second half with an upper body injury in win vs. Hamilton… Weeks 11-12, Added to IR (shoulder)…Week 13, Returned to the lineup and caught 3 passes for 17 yards, LG 7, in loss vs. Montreal…Week 15, Started at WR and exploded for his best statistical game of the season in loss vs. Edmonton…Caught game-high 8 passes for game-high 135 yards… Week 16, Started at WR and made 3 catches for 63 yards, LG 39, in loss vs. Hamilton.

College: Played WR, RB, TE and kick returner during his three seasons at Florida State… Started 13 of 35 games at split end during his career, hauling in 76 passes for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns…Added 74 yards on four kickoff returns (18.5 avg), 30 yards on six punt returns, seven yards on three carries and a solo tackle on special teams…2003 Started every game as a junior at split end, finishing second on the team with a career-high 50 catches for 735 yards and 5 TDs…2002 Named team’s Most Dependable Receiver…Played in 11 games… Finished with 15 receptions for 173 yards…Caught 2 passes for 11 yards in the Georgia Sugar Bowl…2001 Was the only true freshman on team to play in every game…Ranked sixth on the team with 11 receptions for 158 yards and two TDs.

Personal: P.K. (Philip Kenwood) Sam III and his wife Nicole have an 8-year old daughter named Brooklynn and a one-year old son named Philip Kenwood Sam III. He lists Guitar Hero as his favourite video game, enjoys movies and likes any musical artist from Georgia. He was born in Colorado but raised in Buford, Georgia where he attended Buford H.S. and earned All-State Class A First-Team honours and conference/county player of the year as a senior. He parents are Letta and Philip Sam and his younger brother is former teammate/Florida State player and NFL player Lorne Sam. His sister is Autumn, a sportscaster at the ABC affiliate in El Paso, Texas. P.K. was a Political Science major at Florida State.
