The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to welcome import RB Anthony Alridge to the Double Blue.

Alridge was a two-time Second-Team Conference USA All-Star and accounted for more than 1,800 yards from scrimmage and scored 19 touchdowns. Since graduating, the Denton, Texas native has spent time with the NFL’s Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins and Houston Texans.

Acquired: Signed as a free agent on September 16, 2010.

2010: Re-signed by Washington in January and waived on May 3.

2009: Waived by Denver on February 11 and claimed by the Washington Redskins (NFL) on February 12…Attended training camp with Washington and waived as a final cut on September 5…Signed a practice roster agreement with the Houston Texans (NFL) on September 16…PR contract acquired by Washington on September 22…Released by Washington on October 20 and then re-signed to the Redskins’ practice squad on December 9.

2008: Signed with the Denver Broncos (NFL) as a free agent on April 28…Added to club’s injured reserve where he remained for the season.

College: Played at Houston for four seasons (2003, 2005-07)…2007 Started all games at RB…Named Second-Team Conference USA…Runner-up for Doak Walker Award as nation’s top running back…Rushed for 1,597 yards on 259 carries and 14 TDs as a senior…Caught 19 passes for 274 yards and 5 TDs…2006 Converted to running back from receiver…Named Second-Team Conference USA…Played in all 14 games finishing with 959 rushing yards and 8 TDs on 95 attempts…Won Conference USA championship…Started in the Liberty Bowl vs. South Carolina…National and C-USA leader with 10.1 yards per rush…Finished fourth in Conf. USA with 131.1 all-purpose yards per game and sixth with an average of 22.3 yards per kickoff return… Posted five rushes of longer than 50 yards, including a long of 87 yards against C-USA rival Tulane… Eighth in C-USA with 68.5 rushing yards per game… 2005 Appeared in all 12 games with six starts as a receiver…Led the Cougars with an average of 22.7 yards per catch…Dressed in the Fort Worth Bowl…2004 Sat out the season and was not enrolled at Houston… 2003 Redshirted as a true freshman receiver.

Personal: Anthony attended Denton High School in his hometown Denton, Texas where he was a star football player. His parents are Vincent and Lisa and he enjoys playing the drums in his spare time. Anthony majored in sociology at Houston. Anthony is the oldest of four children (two younger sisters and a brother).

    We truly miss you here in DC. Wish you could have stayed with the skins. Keep your head up and stay focused. Prove them wrong, build your hand strenght and bulk up, but keep your speed. We still do and WILL need a good running back here in washington. Have your agent keep in touch with the Skins organization, it will work out for you. Sign me
