Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that the hockey club has signed forward Greg McKegg to a three-year entry level contract. McKegg was originally the Leafs’ second choice, selected 62nd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He will report to the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies on Friday.

McKegg played 66 games for the OHL’s Erie Otters this season and led Erie in goals (49), points (92) and powerplay goals (17). The St. Thomas, Ontario native ranked second on the Otters in assists (43) and third in plus/minus (+20). He also finished tied for second in OHL goals and eighth in points. The 6-0, 195-pound forward collected five points on four goals and one assist in seven playoff games with Erie, while adding 12 penalty minutes.

McKegg was named the OHL Player of the Week on three occasions this season including: September 27 – October 3, November 22 – 28 and February 14 – 20.
