St. Johns IceCapsTommy Maxwell Recalled from Eagles

The St. John’s IceCaps announced Monday they have recalled forward Tommy Maxwell from the Colorado Eagles. 

Maxwell, 26, has played in 15 games with the Eagles this season earning five points (1g, 4a) and 69 penalty minutes. Since 2008-09, he appeared in 142 games with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. In his time with the Moose, Maxwell collected 20 points (7g, 13a) while racking up 388 penalty minutes. His total penalty minutes in 2009-10 was the fifth highest season total in Moose franchise history. 

Through five professional seasons, the Spokane, WA native has played in 151 AHL games with Manitoba and Hershey, recording 21 points (7g, 14a) and 432 penalty minutes.

Garth Murray Signed to American Hockey League Contract

The St. John’s IceCaps today announced they have released forward Garth Murray from his professional tryout contract and signed him to an American Hockey League contract. 

Murray, 29, has played in 19 games with the IceCaps this season collecting six points (1g, 5a) and 25 penalty minutes. He has played in 411 career games in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Hamilton Bulldogs, San Antonio Rampage, Abbotsford Heat and Manitoba Moose where he’s scored 120 points (52g, 68a) and recorded 913 penalty minutes. 

The Regina, SK native has played 116 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers, and Phoenix Coyotoes. In the NHL, Murray has scored 10 points (8g, 2a) and recorded 131 penalty minutes. Murray was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the third round, 79th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Daniel Koger Signed to PTO Contract

The IceCaps also announced they have signed forward Daniel Koger to a professional tryout contract. 

Koger, 22, has played in 12 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL so far this season. In that time, the right-winger has collected 11 points (5g, 6a) and eight penalty minutes. He is currently tied for second on the Cyclones scoring leaderboard and leads the team with a plus-8 rating. 

The Szekesfehervar, Hungary native spent the 2010-11 season with the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League earning 52 points (29g, 23a) and 40 penalty minutes.
