David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Friday that the club has traded Carter Ashton and David Broll to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a conditional 7th round draft pick in 2016.

Ashton, 23, had been held pointless in seven regular season games with the Maple Leafs this season. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the first round, 29th overall, during the 2009 NHL Draft.

Broll, 22, had yet to skate in a game for the Maple Leafs this season and has recorded one assist in five career NHL games. The Mississauga, Ontario native was a sixth round draft pick of the Maple Leafs during the 2011 NHL Draft.

The Maple Leafs are taking on the Devils in New Jersey tonight before returning home to host the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow.
