Tour of Portugal has been started from wednesday 15 August 2012 till sunday 26 August 2012. On Wednesday August 16, 2012 Stage 1 will brings the start of the race for the 2012 Tour de Portugal, as the top cyclists in the world sprint into the streets of Portugal to settle on once and for all who is the best player of the tournament. It is a part of Europe tour. The tour covers a total of 1606.8 kilometers, divided into 10 stages and a prologue, with a rest day.

Stage 1  has a flat track over a distance of 200.8 km,  it schedule from Termas Monfortinho to Oliveira do Hospital. Yesterday’s individual time-trial won by Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg.

Russian continental team Itera-Katusha is also taking part in this event for second time in its history. Last year Timofey Kritskiy took 3rd position  at a stage.

This year team’s squad includes: Pavel Kochetkov, Dmitriy Kosyakov, Alexander Rybakov, Dmitry Mokrov, Igor Boev, Maxim Pokidov, Andrei Solomennikov and Alexandr Prishpetnyy.

The streets will be creased with energized Portugal’s who have waited to see the riders get to the Oliveira do Hospital.
