On Sunday August 19, 2012 Stage 2 will be started in Tour of Spain, as the top cyclists in the world sprint into the streets of Spain to settle on once and for all who is the best player of the tournament.
Stage 2 has a rolling category with a total 635m high point over a distance of 180km; it starts from Pamplona to Viana. This is a windy track other than this it would be one of the easiest stages.
Juan Jose Cobo 2011 champion proceeds to defend his title as part of the Movistar Team’s line-up.
Movistar won the 1st stage of this year’s Vuelta a Espana with a strong display in the opening team time trial in Pamplona on Saturday. The home team was escorted by Jonathan Castroviejo while Jose Cobo, the defending champion, was spaced just before the line, losing seconds to Movistar’s first five riders. The home favorites thrash Rabobank into 2nd place by 10 seconds, while Alberto Contador ended 15 seconds slack, but just three seconds down on associate race favorite Chris Froome.
