On Tuesday September 4, 2012, the under-20 Women’s football world-cup Semi-final 2012 match will be played between USA and Nigeria at the Tokyo’s National Stadium; Tokyo, Japan.
The American Under-20 Women’s National Team is one victory away from going forward to the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Final, where they could face the winner of 2nd semi-final match between Japan and Germany.
U.S. team defeated Korea in the quarterfinal by 2-1 forward Chioma Ubogagu scored the game-winning goal on Aug. 31 at Komaba Stadium in Saitama, Japan, to help the USA advance to the semifinals.
On the other hand, Nigeria closely wins from Mexico by 1-0 as Desire Oparanozie scored the goal in the 109th minute on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Tokyo’s National Stadium. Nigeria advanced to its second consecutive U-20 World Cup semifinal.
World no. 1 US Team Probable line-up for match includes: Bianca Henninger; 3-Rachel Quon, Toni Pressley, Crystal Dunn, Kendall Johnson; Casey Short, Mollie Pathman, Amber Brooks, Christine Nairn (capt.), Zakiya Bywaters Maya Hayes, Meg Morris, Kristie Mewis, Sydney Leroux.
Nigeria currently ranked as 27 and has formed many strong and talented defenders. The Nigerian line up likely to play include: Alaba Jonathan; Joy Jegede (capt.), Helen Ukaonu, Osinachi Ohale, Cecilia Nku, Rebecca Kalu, Glory Iroka, Ebere Orji, Ngozi Ebere, Desire Oparanozie, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Esther Sunday, Charity Adule.
Everyone will be waiting to see another great game from both the classy players. According to statistics, USA looks favorites to win the semi-final but you cannot write-off Nigerians with their unpredicted performance in recent matches. A Tough fight will be expected from both the teams.
