England have a strong men’s doubles presence in Brno at the Thwack Czech International.

Marcus Ellis and Scotland’s Paul Van Rietvelde will tackle home hopes Pavel Florian and Ondrej Kopriva in the first round. But a tough second round awaits the winners in the shape of Croatian fourth seeds Zvonimir Durkinjak and Zvonimir Hoelbling.

Chris Langridge and Peter Mills start with a first-round bye and should reach the third round where they could face Ellis and Van Rietvelde. Ben Stawski and Gary Fox await a qualifier in Friday afternoon’s first round while Chris Coles and Matthew Nottingham also await a pair from qualifying.

Ellis and Gabby White lead the mixed doubles challenge and they will start from the second round against Frederik Colberg and Sara Thygesen of Denmark.

Ellis and White, Belgian International winners, are joined in the draw by Stawski and Lauren Smith, Nottingham and Alex Langley, Fox and Samantha Ward and Coles and Jessica Fletcher. But Chris Langridge and Heather Olver, runners-up in Belgium, despite being top seeds have to qualify.

Smith and White will lead the women’s doubles challenge and start against Agnes Korosi and Monika Szoke of Hungary. Olver and Kate Robertshaw will start with a bye but they could face Ward and Chloe Birch in the second round if they beat Celine Juel and Josephine Van Zaane of Denmark initially.

England’s 2011 National champion, Nicola Cerfontyne partners Denmark’s Louise Hansen and an opening win will put Cerfontyne against Scotland’s third seeds Jillie Cooper and Kirsty Gilmour. Fletcher and Alyssa Lim and Sophie Brown and Lewczynska are also in action on Friday.

Toby Penty, Poland runner-up to Scotland’s Kieran Merrilees, the lone Englishman in the men’s singles draw and the Surrey left-hander starts against Maxime Moreels of Germany on Friday morning.

The pick of the first round is the clash between Sarah Walker and Scotland’s seventh seed and Poland winner Gilmour. Robertshaw, Cerfontyne, Sarah Milne and Polish runner-up Panuga Riou are also in the line-up. Qualifying third seed Georgina Bland, fifth seed Emily Westwood and Birch will be hoping to win through to the main draw.
