China’s talented player and ruling Olympic Champion Li Xuerui employed all of her skills and defeated her compatriot Wang Shixian in Women’s Singles Group A contest in 61 minutes with a close 21-19, 15-21 and 21-18 score on the board.
Women’s Singles shuttler and World No.8, Sung Ji Hyun of Korea played remarkably and surpassed Eriko Hirose in Group A match in local badminton arena of Shenzhen, China with 21-12 and 21-15 margin.
Japan’s top shuttlers Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa performed brilliantly and managed to outplay Malaysia’s Thien How Hoon and Wee Kiong Tan in Men’s Doubles Group B clash in 36 minutes with 21-13 and 21-17 score.

Indonesia’s talented Mixed Doubles players Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto grabbed their first victory in the group stage after defeating higher ranked Malaysian duo Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying with 21-18 and 21-19.
Indonesia’s top Mixed Doubles pair Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir had a terrible start of the tournament as he lost the opening match against Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee Thoungthongkam with final figures of 19-21, 21-14 and 21-14.
